IAS 2015: International AIDS Society Conference Starts this Weekend in Vancouver

alt

The 8th International AIDS Society Conference on HIV Pathogenesis, Treatment and Prevention (IAS 2015) starts this Sunday and runs July 19-22 in Vancouver. HIV prevention -- including treatment-as-prevention and pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) -- will be a major focus of the meeting. Other topics will include antiretroviral drugs in development, expanding access to treatment and retention in care, and HIV/hepatitis coinfection. HIVandHepatitis.com will be on site covering the latest news.

The HIV Pathogenesis, Treatment and Prevention meeting is held every other year, alternating with the larger International AIDS Conference (which will next take place in Durban, South Africa, in July 2016). Vancouver was the site of the pivotal 1996 International AIDS Conference, which for the first time featured research showing the sustained benefits of effective combination antiretroviral therapy including HIV protease inhibitors.

The main IAS conference will be preceded by the annual Towards an HIV Cure Symposium and the 2nd International HIV/Viral Hepatitis Co-infection Meeting.

HIVandHepatitis.com and our partners at NAM/Aidsmap.com will be on site at all 3 meetings, bringing you daily reports and video coverage. Follow us on Twitter @HIVandHepatitis for breaking news.

The full IAS 2015 program is now available online. Abstracts and webcasts will be posted next week in accordance with conference embargo policies. Follow conference news via Twitter hashtag #IAS2015.
